We at Animal-Kind International wanted to let you know how grateful we are for your support and to give you news on how we spent the funds that we raised during the last GlobalGiving Challenge. As always, AKI sent 100% of funds raised during the GlobalGiving Challenge to our partner organizations to use to help the animals as they see fit. GlobalGiving donations help support Uganda, Namibia, Lilongwe, and Ghana SPCAs, Tanzania Animal Welfare Society, South Sudan humane education project, Helping Hands for Hounds of Honduras, Kingston Community Animal Welfare, Save the Animals-Armenia, and Bosnia Animal Foundation.
Specifically with December's Challenge funds, Animal-Kind International contributed funds for Bosnia Animal Foundation's spay/neuter campaign in Cazin (near Bihac), Bosnia. Our AKI funds paid for spay surgery of five dogs living in an abandoned factory, who are fed and cared for by animal welfare volunteers.
Also, GlobalGiving donations funded the care (food, medicine, and neuter) for Mundo, a dog that was found on the side of a busy highway in Tegucigalpa, Honduras (see photo of a recovered Mundo!) Mundo's rescuers brought Mundo to a vet, and left him there. The vet stitched up Mundo's leg, and then called Pilar at Helping Hands for Hounds of Honduras sanctuary once Mundo was stabilized and could be moved. Pilar brought him to the sanctuary, where he stayed next to Pilar's bed, and she fed him mashed up food every few hours to put some weight on him and get him healthy. He had no muscles on his hips and rear legs--who knows how long he had been lying on the side of the road. But now Pilar tells AKI, "He is a sweetie! He loves life!" Without AKI funds, Mundo would not get the quality care he needed to get healthy and be ready for adoption.
Animal-Kind International's 2012 Annual Report is now available on our website, from the dropdown menu on the home page. Thank you from AKI and our partner organizations for your support!
