This project will support response effort being mounted to deliver humanitarian assistance to the communities affected. Team Rubicon have provide drone support to the National Board for Disaster Management as they continue their recovery operation following the devastating earthquake and tsunami on the island of Sulawesi. We are now providing clean water to displaced persons in the IDP camps in Palu as well as the provision of community water filtration kits
The shallow but powerful earthquake and tsunami struck off the coast of Indonesia on September 28, 2018, causing widespread damage to buildings and property. Reports (as of 02 October) estimate that the death toll has now passed 1300. The United Nations Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs says there are nearly 200,000 people in urgent need of assistance, about a quarter of them children. Survivors are increasing desperate for fuel, food & water.
The focus is on provision of safe water (WASH) and damage assessments with the assistance of UAVs (drones) by team elements deploying form the UK and Australia. We are providing clean water to affected communities on Palu.
