Access to quality palliative care is an important aspect of health care. To achieve this, Kenya Hospices and Palliative Care Association is organizing an Annual Fundraising Dinner on 15th November 2019 at Laico Regency Hotel, Nairobi. Funds raised will be used to improve palliative care services and offer pain management to patients in marginalized areas within the country. Bringing palliative care close to the patients in need will ease their need to travel far for access to pain relief.
There are just about more that 50 Palliative Care Units and Hospices within the country. Most of these are centralized in the urban areas and the central regions of the country hence leaving the populations in the marginalized and hard to reach areas with no form of palliative care or pain relief, thus having patients suffer from needless pain.
Provision of palliative care services and pain relief will help alleviate the pain, symptoms and stress of the patients in need of palliative care as well as improve their quality of life for both the patient and the family.
The project will be able to cater for patients in need of palliative care within their regions without having to travel to far places to get palliation and pain relief.
