Safe Drinking Water for Flood Victims in Pakistan

We are happy to share that so far 1,500 nadi filter units have been installed and some 500 ready to distribute and install within next 1-2 weeks, the 1500 families and about 12,000 households now have access to safe and clean drinking water and soon as we receive more funds from Global Giving, the no. of nadi filter installation will be increased up to 2,000.

We are thankful all of you, whoever donated for this project, the project is sustainable and its impact is long term, hope we will be able to promote 6,000 nadi filter among flood victims. we need quick support from all of you and donation to complete our this project

1150 Nadi filter water units distribution in IDPs of Thatta district Pakistan

Dear all supporters. donors and friends

We at AHD thankful for your cooperation and support for so far 1,500 families. we also looking another 4,500 families support from all of you. Our area families waiting, suffering and looking for us and we hope you all will contribute to make success and provision of 6,000 nadi filter units among flood affected families Thatta Sindh Pakistan

So far 1150 Nadi filter (safe drinking water) filters distributed among the flood victims and now they all are happy and using these Nadi (bio-sand) type filters at their house hold level, we attaching some snaps and we will also put all data or info as per your requirement, please feel free and let us know

The families provided with 1150 Nadi filter units now using safe and clean drinking water at their household level and saved from water borne diseases, as many of them living in villages where flood water is available for the drinking purposes and ow they are happy to use Nadi filter units for filtering their available source of water. Nadi filter water is clean and rural poor families happy, many of them reports that now they have no sick and they are now drinking clean water at their household level.

We at AHD looking your all support to promote these filters on mass scale and cover other areas of Country affected by floods in 2010.the material is in process to provide 1,000 more filters in coming few days and your quick support will help us to do that. we also want as soon as fund this project and we will be able to install and distribute all 6,000 filters among Flood Victims in Pakistan

We will soon post a new reports and survey about the filters provided and are in use to keep update you all about our this innovative and sustainable work

AHD Staff celebrated EID with 500 IDP families of Sujawal & Jati area and provided them with the 1. Sweets 1 kg per family 2. Bengals for women and children 3. 13 EId programs for flood affected families in Gularchi

As we started the safe drinking Nadi filter provision and so far we prepared 900 Units which will be installed within next few days and we will post new report of the Nadi filter units

Women and Children was so happy and enjoyed EID programs organized by AHD staff for 500 families. the IDps living in far and scattered areas approached by AHD and further we will support hem through this project. AHD staff for this project and about 500 poor families distributed sweets and women items on the EID occasion Hope you all will be happy to see the snaps and the IDPs support on EID day.

We at AHD also request to re-donate for this project and support us to provide Nadi filter units to large IDP families the provided Nadi filters they will be bale to take to their home and AHD will help them in their rehabilitation

The floods in Thatta district creates worse situation and so far 2,180,000 people are displaced from them. Some 540,000 werebprovided with tents and food and remaining are 1,640,000 IDPs waiting. We at AHD installed 320 nadi filters so far and some 3,500 now able to have access to safe and clean drinking water. But still needs lot of to made more filters.

We find first installment on 7th Sept 2010 and hope in next 4-6 days we will be able to make another 500 or more units.

Our last days field visit shows very bad situation and many women and children now have skin diseases

AHD staff started implementation of the prject and some 300 Nadi filter units installed. 150 Nadi filter units working well and AHD team busy to install further 150 units that poor IDPs and have access to safe and clean drinking water at their camps / door step. Please find some snaps of Nadi filter and Mosquito nets. In snaps you can see project leader visits in camps or families living in open air and usage of Nadi filter units.

The New floods hit Thatta city head quarter and nearby Tehsils and about 162,000 people displaced from their houses, every where in Lower Sindh IDPs and no way to settle displace people, Now the situation is more danger and Govt. facilities insufficient to cover large no. of IDPs.

We at AHD looking this project quick support to cover 3,000 families and total 25,000 households with safe and clean drinking water .

Looking your favorable response as Lower Sindh IDPs in danger position and if not supported on time water borne disease will attack many IDPs.
