Sponsorship enables the poorest children to take part in all aspects of the OSCAR football, education & life skills programmes. Participation creates the foundation for change, for the individual, their family, community & future generations. OSCAR children live very challenging lives, which makes them vulnerable to negative external influences. Child sponsorship plays a vital part in ensuring no OSCAR children slip through the net. This project is at the heart of OSCAR's work & you can help.
Thousands of children in India continue to live in poverty without the support they need to survive & thrive in their communities. Many children remain excluded from quality education due to lack of resources, limited digital access and ongoing economic pressure at home. As a result, children are often forced into poorly paid work to support their families, increasing the risk of permanent dropout from school. Girls are particularly vulnerable and at risk of an early marriage and youth pregnancy
When vulnerable girls & boys join the Child Sponsorship programme they have full access to the mentorship of the OSCAR team, who are from the same community & ideally placed to identify & support the child's specific needs. Sponsorship gives the child access to the full programme of education, life skills & football. It provides clothing, healthy nutrition, travel, uniform, entry to competition, school equipment & more. In addition, your child and family will be proud to have you as a sponsor.
Child Sponsorship is a proven long-term approach to addressing the systemic challenge of underprivileged children missing out on education. Parents with limited education themselves are often compelled to prioritise immediate survival needs, sending children to work or care for younger siblings instead of school. Sponsorship shifts this focus towards education & sport. Through engagement with OSCAR, children develop confidence and ambition, make their families proud, and grow into role models.
