Children of the Dawn has a beneficiary base of 791 orphans and vulnerable children from eight (8) impoverished rural areas in 5 South African provinces. Help us feed 22 families monthly. Also, our Centre in Mathabatha village supports 87 beneficiaries; unfortunately there are pit toilets that are dilapidated. This project seeks to restore the dignity of the orphans and vulnerable and build a new block of flushable toilets, children need proper sanitation regardless of their social status.
There are currently 791 orphans and vulnerable children from 8 impoverished rural villages. The following are identified areas requiring support: -22 Beneficiaries and their families need nutritional support -Three toilets need to be built to replace unusable pit toilets; the Centre in Mathabatha cares for 87 children -Monthly groceries for 20 orphans in tertiary education -735 beneficiaries require school uniform and stationary -20 beneficiaries need specialized medical care
The project will assist in the following ways; -Provide food parcels to 22 families of in-school orphans and vulnerable children -The dignity of the 87children in Mathabatha will be restored when the flushable toilets are built and usable -20 orphans in tertiary education will have food & to focus on academics without worrying about basics -735 children will receive the much needed school uniform and address the effects of not having the adequate school uniform such as dropping out of school.
Orphans and vulnerable children generally have a low self esteem. The project will restore the confidence of our beneficiaries and allow children to live without worrying where their next meal will come from; a burden that no child should live with. Children in Mathabatha where we plan on building the three toilets will continue to use the infrastructure beyond the life of the project even new beneficiaries.
