Children’s Town: A contribution to the realization of the plight of the less privileged children.

DAPP Children’s Town management, staff and the children would like to thank and appreciate the Global Giving for the donation to the institution for your commitment to the plight of children. The donation meant a lot to all the children as it contributed greatly to their well-being and to the entire programme. The lives of the children have genuinely been touched by this donation. Consequently, we need to make this appreciation through case stories and pictures.

The contribution was used in the support of the programme in all the areas as follows: -

1. Academics

• Education -Purchase of education materials such as exercise books, pupil text books, pens, pencils and other materials for all the grades. -Payment of teachers’ salaries (2 teachers were paid for two months)

2. Social and Nutrition.

• Hygiene, sanitary and personal equipment -The fund supported the children with hygiene and sanitary materials, clothes, shoes and replacement of blankets, mattresses, plates, spoons and cups. • Medicine -The fund supported the children through procurement of medicine for the center clinic. • Food -The fund supported children with nutritious food staff and ensure balanced diet for all the children in the programme. - The fund was also used to start a vegetable garden that will provide green and fresh vegetables to the school kitchen.

• Maintenance - The fund was also used to renovate two girls’ hostels. -The fund was also used for the Painting of six (6) boys’ hostels • Sports -The fund supported the children in this area through the purchase of sports attire for the girls’ net ball team. • All in all, 380 children benefited from this donation in various ways as mentioned already.

3. Skills Training.

4. The money was used to purchase hand tools for the garden, seeds, fertilizers and chemicals. This has enabled the children carry out practical demonstrations that are aimed at equipping them with practical skills in vegetable production. 5. The school also utilized the money on buying materials for art production. The materials were sold at the Zambia International Trade Fair. This is also another dimension of equipping the childr4en with practical skills in art and design.

The Impact.

Case Stories: Agnes Kalaba

My name is Agnes Kalaba. I am doing grade ten (10) at DAPP Children’s Town. I have been at DAPP Children’s Town for seven (7) years. I would like to thank Global Giving for what you have done for vulnerable people, especially for us children at DAPP Children’s Town. We really appreciate what you are doing and what you have done for us in the Children’s Town. As children in the Children’s Town, we really appreciate your work you have done. You are really helping us a lot. You have made us have hope for our future. We can see that there are people who care for us. This is very good as without your support I would not be in grade 10 now. As for me, I am a double orphan and without you supporting DAPP, I don’t know what would have happened to me. I now have plans of leading my own life in the near future. I hope you will continue to support us because we really love what you are doing for us. Your help means a lot to us children in the Children’s Town. Lastly, I would like to say never get tired always remember that there are children in the Children’s Town. We love you. God bless your work always.
