Young India intends to promote Organic Kitchen Gardens through training and necessary seed & kits for making organic kitchen gardens in 5 disasters affected coastal villages in Puri district of Odisha. A total number of 50 households will be trained and helped through supporting mechanism in establishing their own organic kitchen gardens. This can help in production of healthy vegetables, fruits with reducing use of pesticides. It will help in saving the money of rural poor households also.
India has one of the world's highest demographics of children suffering from malnutrition. It's a silent emergency that pegs our women and children as worse off than others. It is due to lack of awareness, poverty, unhealthy food practices, illiteracy. And if it comes to disaster prone areas the situation is even worst. The regular intervention of sea salt water into the crop fields makes the food production unhealthy. So the people need healthy foods to fulfil their protein deficiencies.
This project will help in establishing the organic kitchen gardens in 50 individual households of 5 villages which are mostly disaster affected where they can get organic food intake and healthy impact in their life. Every individual will get training and support kits & seed to make their own organic kitchen gardens in their home by which they can become self reliant on food and earn money by selling vegetables.
Organic kitchen gardens will provide fresh and nutritious foods. The family members will get healthy life as well as can save money from monthly grocery. Each household will be self reliant on foods. Not only the adopted households but the villagers will be also benefited. The villagers will get organic foods in low cost and in own village. Villagers will be encouraged for organic kitchen gardens which will help in reducing the use of pesticides results in less contamination to the environment.
