new facilities for Orangutan monitoring!

By Kate Warren | Veterinary Nurse

Currently Sumatra Rainforest Institute is implementing an initiative to benefit our research team monitoring the forests involved in Tapanulis Orangutan conservation project consisting of Lubuk Raya, Sibualbuali and Dolok Sipirok.

Work has recently commenced to build multiple monitoring stations between Sibualbuali and Dorok Sipirok. There will be multiple raised huts made from bamboo and equip with simple amenities. These will provide a sufficient base for researchers, volunteers and local patrol teams and enable them to stay here for longer periods and therefor accrue more accurate and detailed information on current Orangutan population and Forest health.

As this project continues to gain momentum we will continue to seek donations to assist in preserving the Orangutan populations in these fragmented forests.

Please share the link to this project so we may continue to move forward and reach our conservation goals.
