Summary

enhancement of mother and child health in 05 urban slums and 05 villages of muzaffarpur district though promoting better health services, training to traditional birth attendants and building capacity of community based health workers and government staff, ensuring accessibility to delivery system. the global giving fund will enable nari nidhi to increase immunization coverage for children under 5 and pregnant mothers. improve nutrition status, create access to safe drinking water.

Challenge

Due to lack of knowledge, information and orientation in health and hygiene the grass root level peoples cannot understand the need of immunization, importance of growth monitoring, technique of low cost nutritious food preparation, different methods of birth control, spacing between two children, importance using sanitary or pit type latrine, preparation of safe drinking water, maintenance of personal hygiene and disposal of waste products from the home and practices to maintain good health

Solution

increase immunization coverage for children under 5 and pregnant mothers; improve their nutrition status; create access to safe drinking water; capacitate traditional birth attendants; strengthen community self help groups and their cluster, including their collaboration and assist them interface with local government health and social welfare personnel. provide health check camp through MHU. Provide medicine, pathological services. Counselling services on RCH/MCH, Anemia, and Nutrition.

Long-Term Impact

9585 women experience better health and access healthcare services. . 2500 adolescent girls gain knowledge about ARSH. 4500 children, ages 0-5 receive full immunization and proper nutrition resulting in enhanced health and decrease infant mortality rates. 175 traditional birth attendants learn safe delivery method that are used to educate women and the community about reproductive and child health issues. 65% of the target women deliver in a hospital settings. 17% decrease in MMR and CMR.
