Children living in the suburban area of Sibert part of Croix-des-Bouquets city live in extreme poverty especially orphans and those cared by single parents. They struggle to put food on their table and even for a safe place to live. They frequent schools offering unhealthy classrooms and dangerous latrines. They have so much to face and meeting their basic needs is a struggle of everyday life. Most of them suffer a kind of malnutrition that makes them vulnerable to epidemic diseases.
The 7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12, 2010, left hundreds of thousands of children orphaned. Extreme poverty has resulted and the impoverished families that were already struggling because of the inflation in the country are in a desperate situation. Haiti GNI per capita was at a level of 709 US dollars in 2016, down from 783 US dollars previous year, this is a change of 9.50 %.
If we provide more access to food, children will be less at risk of dying from diseases like tuberculosis and malnutrition and perform better at school. With support with tuition and school supplies, orphans will increase their chances to complete school program.
The project will provide more access to a healthier life for children at risk of slavery. We will provide more access to education for children.
