Arrow Network Systems has concluded an agreement with World Computer Exchange, Hull, MA, in December, 2007, to receive 140 (one hundred forty) refurbished computers to implement Javelin in three more schools to connect 3,000 students to the Internet using Arrow's Javelin technology. The schools include New Akrade Primary, Akwamuman Secondary (replacement of broken computers), Boso Secondary-Technical and Anum Secondary Schools. All the schools are located in poor communities in Ghana, West Africa, with no telecommunication facilities to enable the students connect to the Internet. Arrow's Javelin technology shall therefore be used to enable 3,000 students aged between 12 and 17 have first time access to the Internet through stored educational website, scanned textbooks and slow access to e-mail only made possible by Javelin (http://www.arrownetworks.net/javelin.html).
Members of the community within which these schools are located shall also benefit from these computers and the Javelin access to the Internet through a community access program agreed with the schools.
The refurbished computers include Pentium IIs, Pentium IIIs, iMacs and Printers.
