By Sally Korkin - Executive Director, Cedar Village Foundation
The fall Opening Minds Through Art semester has begun. Students from the Miami University Scripps Gerontology Program as well as community volunteers have been paired with 40 residents with dementia. Each Friday, they create a new piece of art using a variety of mediums including paint, texture, and material. In mid-November, the artists will be creating a wonderful piece of art. Rookwood Pottery is based in Cincinnati, Ohio and the OMA artists will be working with Rookwood artists to design and paint a special tile that will then be fired in the Rookwood kiln and will be on display at Cedar Village beginning in December.
