Our 40+ student-driven local groups - oikos Chapters - form the heart of the oikos Community, taking courageous action & practicing conscious leadership to move their education, campuses & wider environment towards sustainability. Our community activities connect, inspire & empower oikees as they move through their oikos journeys on the local level, through energizing community conversations, supportive peer groups & individual chapter coaching.
In the face of the climate crisis and ecological breakdown, bringing together the community is needed more than ever. Challenging the status quo all over the world, oikees inspire the spark of change needed to create a thriving future for all of us. A study shows that 52% of young people are very or extremely worried about climate change. oikos connects over 1000 students worldwide every year & makes them feel less alone, empowering them through the momentum of an international movement.
Our community has diverse needs - therefore Community in Action initiative focuses on different life cycles of the Chapters (accompanying oikees throughout the semester with Kick-off & Reflection Calls, monthly peer calls & 1:1 coaching) & the collective journey of the community (weekly oikos AGORAs on variety of topics from burnouts to sustainable finance) aiming to address different challenges & foster a sense of togetherness & belonging that equip the Chapters with inspiration & perseverance.
oikos students are the leaders of tomorrow. Through our community activities, they practice listening, co-creation, acting as change makers & celebrating their powerful work in the world - in a collaborative & future-oriented way. This will make them conscious leaders capable of responding to future challenges & becoming one of our 10,000 alumni that are integral part of our community.
