This project will provide 3 days of outdoor activities in a farmhouse located in the region of Karpenisi to 30 refugee children living in refugee camps in Greece, offering them the chance to escape from their difficult everyday life by sharing moments of joy, adventure and revitalization.
There are currently around 23,500 refugee and migrant children in Greece, according to UNICEF data. Many of them are experiencing the isolation over the pass of days. Being secluded from the local society, their desire to play and enjoy kid activities can only be done within the limits of a camp, while their only wish is to have the feeling of what is 'a normal life'. Our project will provide 30 of these children with activities that will brighten their days and offer them pure moments of joy.
Our project consists in organizing a trip in a farmhouse located in central Greece, where the refugee children will get in touch with nature, explore the secrets of the woods, go horseback riding and swim in the river. By joining this excursion, the kids involved will create strong links and have fun while enjoying these outdoor activities - away from their tough living conditions. It might be a short 3-days trip, but the memories they'll create will last forever, giving them hope once again.
This project will primarily affect 30 refugee children and pave the way towards the organization of regular trips involving 30 other children each time, giving them the opportunity to engage in seasonal outdoor activities. By escaping from the boredom they experience every day, all of them will play and have fun, get resourced in the nature and come back to the city with a great smile that will enlighten their days and make them feel like any other child of their age.
