YOUR New Secondary School has a Roof!
YOUR New Secondary School has a Roof!

YOU are a hero to YOUR Nyaka Grandmothers and YOUR Nyaka Family! Maybe you don't wear a cape or have superpowers, but YOU are saving the lives of over 7,005 grandmothers and their 43,000 children in southwest Uganda!

YOUR grandmothers do everything they can to provide for their families. On top of all the cooking, cleaning, taking care of children, and everything else, they make time to provide for their families as well! Many of Nyaka’s grannies make crafts and sell these creations for income!

YOUR support makes this possible! YOU are doing such a great job that Nyaka can expand the supports we offer to YOUR enterprising grandmothers! With the building of the new secondary school, there will be room to give all the grandmothers a large workspace that has electricity so they can have light in the evening and run equipment like sewing machines!

We know how much YOU love YOUR grannies and students! Just look at the evidence of how much YOU have done for them!

In just a few months, The Nyaka Secondary and Vocational School will be complete and YOUR grandmothers will have the space and equipment they need to expand their enterprises and make their families more prosperous! It's building up so quickly! Just look at the new roof on the main school building!

This is all happening because of YOU!

YOUR Nyaka Grandmothers are so grateful for everything YOU are doing for them and so are we!

Thank YOU

Didn't get a chance to make a donation during the last Bonus Day?

No worries! YOU have another chance to give next Wednesday (May 7th) at 9:00am (EST)!

Your gift will be matched 30%!

Look at YOU! You’re amazing.

No, really. YOU are!

YOU do so much to help YOUR Nyaka grannies of Nyaka. YOU make me proud.

Look at what you’ve done recently:

YOU have saved a family. Fausta is a 65-year-old widow who was blessed with 8 children and many grandchildren. Unfortunately, only 2 of her children are still alive today. Currently she lives with 4 of her 12 orphaned grandchildren. In 2013 through the Nyaka granny housing program YOU gave her a new house and kitchen.

When we visited her at her new home, she was very happy and said, “Thank you for saving me from a collapsing house.”

Before YOU, she lived in a house full of cracks in the walls and the roof was leaking. Whenever it would rain at night, the granny and her grandchildren used to spend sleepless nights while standing in one of the corners in their old house.

Not only did you provide safe shelter for this granny and her grandchildren, but you are letting them live a healthier life and giving the grandchildren a better opportunity and change for school.

She said, “I am going to ensure that this house is kept neat and my compound will always be clean. My grandchildren are also very happy and I want them to study hard and become very prominent people in Uganda.”

YOU have fulfilled the dreams of this and so many other grandmothers! Keep up the great work!

Thank YOU so much!

YOU can help us keep more families safe and together!

Join us for the 2nd Bonus Day of the year!

YOU are making a difference for women like Jolly.

After her husband left her with three grandchildren to care for, Jolly needed help. She already had a grocery store business but, without more capital, it was not enough to support her and her grandchildren.

Because of the support YOU have given, Jolly was able to make her case to her granny group, get a microloan, and increase her business. Jolly also received training to improve her business to ensure that her loan could do the very best for her.

Because of YOU, she can afford to send her three grandchildren to school without help from Nyaka!

She is a leader in her community showing young girls that they too can be successful businesswomen.

When you give to the Grandmother Project, you are not just providing vital support to 7,005 grandmothers and their 43,000 children. YOU are strengthening an economy. YOU are building a community. YOU are empowering people to be agents of change in their own lives.

YOU have given Jolly and many other women like her hope.

I am in awe of YOU!

YOU did so much for your grandmothers in 2013!

Through the grandmother project, you built:

  • 37 homes (includes a house, kitchen, and latrines)
  • 6 house
  • 20 kitchens
  • 10 latrines

The homes YOU have built keep YOUR grannies and the children they care for safe and healthy.

We were also able to give out 72 micro finance loans to grannies to give them the capital to start their own businesses. YOU made a difference in the lives of women like Beatrice. Because of YOUR support, Beatrice was able to open her own store and can now pay the school feels of her three children.

YOU are breaking the cycle of poverty and helping grannies like Beatrice be good role models for the young girls and women who are growing up in their community.

Meet Molly!
Meet Molly!

To Nyaka’s grannies, you are a friend, a supporter, a cheerleader, and family….but most of all, YOU are a life saver!

Molly, 85, was caring for two grandsons in a crumbling house. The nearest town and resources were hours away. Her family was in a dire need for a new home. However, with no money, she had no hope.

Molly prayed for a miracle and she received one: YOU!

YOU provided her with a new home, a clean pit-latrine, and a dry kitchen. YOU provided these livable conditions.

To us, these changes may seem meager. But to Molly, they are monumental!

She wanted to thank you herself:
“I have nothing I can offer to you sympathetic people for this great gift you’ve given to me but I’m praying for you from so many miles away ~ thank you.” –Molly

YOU have done something amazing! But, Molly is only one; there are many more grandmothers praying for your miracle. YOU can help them keep their grandchildren safe and fed.

If you haven’t yet made your year-end donation, please do so today.

Holiday Blessings to you and your family ~ From Molly, her family, and ours!
