Challenge

Increasing raids by wildlife, declining village sizes and uncertain rain patterns have caused these crops to disappear from these parts. The disappearance from the fields has been followed by them going missing from family diets. This has had severe consequences on the health of the families.

Solution

This project will help to promote a nutritious diet based on traditional foods. We have already pilot tested this in a few villages and found very good response.

Long-Term Impact

The potential long term impact would be the eradication of malnutrition in the villages which would ensure better health for pregnant women and children. The increased taste and revival of millet based dishes in the family diet would incentivise cultivation of millets in family farms.
