La Pampa is a place of illegal mining located in Madre de Dios, in the jungle of Peru. Around 3,000 children (mostly girls) are taken there for trafficking in reference to sexual and labor exploitation. PROMSEX is promoting a Community Center, so the community, Civil Society organizations and States Institutions can provide Care Services to victims of trafficking and through this strategy trying to rescue them; considering that service providers can go into areas with difficult access.
La Pampa in Madre de Dios, is one of Peru's largest illegal mining site with deforestation and labour and sexual exploitation where the state is as absent. thousands of young women; forced in, come under false or misleading work contracts, run away, and suffer an even worse fate. the source of labour coming from underdeveloped small Andean towns in the Cusco region, where poverty rates are 75%. NGO Reports estimate that 3,000 girls are taken in La Pampa.
While the problem extends beyond visibility and requires greater resources and oversight, providing a safe and reliable communication channel for victims can help those advocating on their behalf to gain more accurate insight into the victim's' situation so they can respond quickly and adequately. PROMSEX identify that Health providers are a good strategy to reach the victims and trying to give them information about how to get out with a community center near La Pampa at the Santa Rosa town.
It is very difficult to know exactly how many girls can be rescued. According to NGOs reports, only 60 girls were rescued, but there are around 3,000 inside the illegal mining camps. This strategy will work only for girls and adolescents who can have certain access to the borders of the camps where health facilities and campaigns can be available.
