A phonecall from social services informed us that there was a fourteen year old girl who had delivered a baby as a result of incest.
The family was in crisis and both the lives of the mother and her baby were at risk. Our social worker went to check on the situation.
The girl had been abused by her father who was divorced from her mother but would visit the house occassonally. After the delivery the girl tried to kill herself as often the victim gets blamed. The mother of the girl was with her in the hospital and didn't know what to do with the situaion. Often they react emotionally and they want to get rid of the problem/evidence by abandoning or sometimes even killing the baby.
We managed to counsel this hurting family and the girl with her baby was admitted into our residential carefacillity, Grace VIllage.
The mother of the girl has gone back home to make sure that the police will pursue the arrest of the father of the baby . For now he is on the run but she is determined to bring him to justice.
This is our fourth mother and baby coming and it is amazing to see that the three mothers who have been with us a bit longer rallied around the newcomer and made her feel at home, they shared their stories with her and made her feel loved and welcome.
At the same time our residential children came and included this girl with her baby into the Grace VIllage family. She felt welcomed and not judged and slowly a smile appeared on her face. She is now caring for her little baby and at the same time playing with the other children..... healing has started to take place.
We thank you for helping us to prevent babies from being abandoned and helping the hurting families! With your assistance we can provide a safe place for these mothers and babies and help them to get back on their feet.
