Baby Nardos came to us as a baby from a mentally disturbed mother. The mother had delivered the baby in the health center but she managed to throw the baby on the floor in an attempt to kill her. This resulted in a fractured skull. She spent a few days in the hospital and was sent to us. We took her for regular follow up for her skull as part of it was quite swollen. Unfortunately the local hospital was not able to do any investigation and they kept telling us that it would heal by itself. We were not convinced and we decided that we owe it to this darling little baby to make sure that things are okay and no complications will develop in the future. So we took her to Addis Ababa and had her checked. It was discovered that things were not okay at all. The fracture was big, part of the bone was growing inside towards her brain and a cyst had formed on top of the fracture. An urgent operation was recommended. During the operation it was discovered that the layer which covered the brain was thorn, this was repaired, the ingrowing bone was corrected and the cyst removed. Unfortunately the fractured skull could not be repaired at this point and will have to be done when she is around two years old. Nardos is an incredible baby, she kept her beautiful smile and stole the hearts of doctors and nurses. We will continue to fight for our most vulnerable, innocent little children as they are the future. We are incredibly thankful for all our donors around the world who have supported us in this, we couldn't have done this without your help.
