Village Classroom provides classrooms to children in underprivileged villages of Costa Rica. We believe the classroom is a very important learning place for improving the living circumstances for the children and changing their future. Your donation goes towards the critical classroom infrastructure for improving the learning environment, a new roof, a blackboard, bathrooms, clean drinking water, and handwashing stations for 3 schools in small Costa Rican villages.
Education has a major role to play in tackling inequality and poverty in Costa Rica, where the poverty rate is twice the world average. Children in rural and underprivileged villages of Costa Rica are more likely than ever to receive a proper education, with schools lacking basic facilities. Inequality starts young, with a lack of access to early education, and widens as students move to higher education. A poor student in Costa Rica has less than a one in ten chance of making it to college.
Children from poor families, who are most likely to face learning challenges, are the least likely to access public education. This puts them at a disadvantage; it prevents them from building a better future by educating, working, and helping their families out of poverty. The most effective measure we can take is to ensure that all children receive adequate education in their early years. Village Classroom provides safe classrooms to every child a chance to succeed and change their future.
Children will receive a positive quality education experience, which would enable them to realize their full potential in any field they choose as they grow up. It will inspire and empower them to learn and build a life they want to live. Enabling parents to better support their child's future, will be central to improving the future for children and society as a whole in Costa Rica.
