2nd Leadership Leadership Training Progress Report

From 16th to 18th December, 2011, New Era Educational and Charitable Support Foundation hosted its 2nd Annual Leadership Education and Peace Training Program. The theme of the training was: The Role of Young People in Achieving the UN MDGs and Peace building in Nigeria. The program sought to catalyze the emergence of a new generation of youth leaders who will participate effectively in forging a strong democratic, people-centred development and sustainable economic emancipation in Nigeria, as well as to foster, develop and support
youth initiative, and a strong representational youth voice in the service and decision making process of our nation, and to engage youth as resources for peace, good governance, interfaith dialogue, towards the achievement of the
United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Due to the current security challenges in Nigeria, participants were selected from Five (5) senior secondary schools within Jos only.

Five students each were selected from the following schools:

a. Creative Minds International Academy

b. Kings Secondary School

c. Government Secondary, Kufang

d. Plastab Comprehensive College, Jos

The objective of the training was to impart self leadership skills to grassroots youth who will in turn develop cells of change within their communities. 1. Good governance
  2. Personal development and communication skills
  3. Dialogue and Non-violence
  4. Volunteerism and Community Service
