Thank you again for your support of Music in Schools Today! We are happy to report that our music integration projects and curriculum continue to move forward.
SLANT, Mission Science, and Music in Schools Today recently collaborated in a professional development session entitled: The Science of Sound with Resonator Tubes! "Setting Air and Water in Motion"
Participants created tubular resonators that would enhance the tone and volume of plastic, wood, and/or metal. A variety of materials demonstrated examples of resonators, longitudinal waves, and transverse waves.
Participating teachers learned how to make their own tubular resonators and explored how they taught the physics of sound, sound waves, and the relationship of sound waves to pitch and timbre. The session ended with teachers performing a piece they composed for the instruments they created in the workshop.
With these new tools in hand, the participating teachers will bring the lessons back to their individual schools and classrooms and spread the love of music!
