Dear Friends and Supporters,
We have lots of developments to report. The women MuJER serves have been making big strides in their education. Alondra recently became our first client to complete high school! She has also completed a course in culinary arts. Because of this achievement, she has become an inspiration to many women. Over the next year we hope to help three more women earn their high school diplomas and encourage others to follow suit. These achievements are made possible by the organization’s academic scholarships of $50 per semester.
Our empowerment center continues to serve more women each year. Our basic literacy and computer classes have more than 100 students. The doors of the center are always open to support sex workers in their personal development, education, self-esteem, and emotional needs. MuJER now serves women from nine red light districts in Guatemala City.
All of these achievements and growth have been made possible through your financial support. In 2013 we will expand the number of academic scholarships offered so that more women can fulfill their dream of earning a high school diploma, while expanding the services, classes, and workshops offered at the center. Please consider the ways you may continue to support MuJER. Those $10 and $20 donations do sustain our work.
Sincerely,
MuJER’s Board of Directors
