Update-Mother & Child
Prior to launching the project, a systematic house-to-house survey is being conducted by our survey workers Ms Sarojni and Ms Babita to identify mothers `at risk` and disabled children (intellectual disability). They met the individuals personally, focusing on pregnant women and children. Survey workers are given a particular survey questionaire and format which is being followed meticulously .A particular block of the resettlement colony at Dakshinpuri was covered consisting of 300 houses. According to the survey, 11 women were expecting a child and 4 women were newly married. These women are lacking relevant prenatal health care services and counseling. New surveys are being carried out every week.
Now our secondary focus is to provide relevant prenatal-counseling, awareness, information and support in the community about the importance of early pregnancy diagnosis and early prenatal care and the benefits of continued care throughout the pregnancy, particularly if there is a history of disability in the family. We are organizing street plays, puppet shows and workshops in the community to promote the awareness. Due to insufficient funds & equipment, the therapy services is not started yet but we are anticipating to begin the preliminary services soon.
