Our first goal has been achieved: providing enough bed nets that there is now a net hanging over every bed at the 250 bed Kisiizi Hospital where we work a month each year. Our next goal is to make sure that every one of the 300 staff members at the hospital and their families, which average six people per family, have enough nets to protect them. If the staff gets sick with malaria, the hospital does not function.
In June, 2011, we will be sending 2 medical students from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, to Kisiizi Hospital for six weeks to check on our next delivery of bed nets to the hospital. These two medical students were previously Peace Corps Volunteers in Africa for over 2 years each, and have pledged to work in Africa as their life careers after they finish their medical training.
Please help us help the Ugandan people by supplying them with insecticide treated bed nets, enough for everyone. Many thanks.
