A Karachi based DPO, Disabled Welfare Association plans to renovate its mobility workshop to manufacture or modify Tri-motorbikes, also providing mobility aids to 60 individuals with disabilities. Mobility aids include the electric wheelchairs, Tri-motorbikes, Tricycles, and manual wheelchairs among the males and females persons with disabilities from Karachi.
In Karachi, Pakistan, persons with disabilities are unable to continue their jobs only because they failed to cope with the expenses of the traveling to their workplaces. Their disability never allows them to use public transport. They use private transport. Considering their poor financial status, they cannot afford to buy customized motorbikes or other vehicles. DWA will facilitate 60 Karachiites with disabilities by providing them with mobility aids, the first step toward their empowerment.
In the 1st phase, DWA will renovate its mobility workshop for manufacturing and modification of customized Tri-motorbikes and electric wheelchairs. The staff of workshop is skilled for such manufacturing or modifications. The 2nd phase is the selection of 60 genuinely needy Karachiites with disabilities. Mobility aids will be distributed among these selected beneficiaries in the 3rd phase. Beneficiaries will be given training how to use/care for their mobility aids in the 4th phase.
The project will empower 60 Karachiites (40 males and 20 females) allowing them to continue their academic, professional, business, social or family life with more freedom. They will easily commute to their destination and they will be in better position to choose the right path either for studies or for a job. They will be no more confined to their homes. They will knock all the opportunities that will come their way as they will have their mobility solution right on their doorsteps.
