Challenge

There is now a confirmed outbreak of a global pandemic of MonkeyPox declared by the African Union and the World Health Organization as a serious health problem. This one started in DRCongo and the country has over 90% of the cases, and generally six provinces are highly affected mainly Maniema, Tanganyika, South Kivu, Tchopo, Ituri and North Kivu. There is a challenge to empower communities in order to stop the outbreak and end this global health problem.

Solution

Our interventions will rotate primarily on prevention: Helping the communities to know the right causes, how the symptoms manifest, what to do in case a person is sick, what to do to avoid it, Mitigating beliefs: Challenging community perception and beliefs towards modern medicine especially the who Vaccination issues which is considered as Satanic, Collecting information and sharing it to various stakeholders: We shall visit even most remote areas deep in forest and come up with information.

Long-Term Impact

As long-term solution, we know that many communities live of hunting animals in forests, and generally also pick those which are already dead which are part of their food and also which are their livelihood activity. We shall come with alternative livelihood activities, create opportunities for meat which is safe, work on better health habits, and identify risky communities and keep in place prevention activities through community health volunteer, who will always alert about the risks.
