As Heartland Equality has created an entirely new division with Allies in Action dedicated to helping those in Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, and Tennessee in times of disaster (as seen in the December 10th Storms that ravaged Western Kentucky & Tennessee, and the historic flooding and devastation in Eastern Kentucky). Heartland Equality has donated more than 18 truckloads worth of goods from food to blankets and housing supplies to both immediate and long-term recovery. A truck is in dire need
As we see a huge increase in donations and disasters the cost of transporting goods is becoming a huge burden we are spending close to 5k a month delivering goods, with our own truck we could cut costs by 80% and offer more to those affected by these disasters
Having our own truck will save the Allies in Action program thousands a month in shipping costs enabling us to help those affected further away and faster.
This will create so much more able to help the community and will be able to expand and grow into other areas and help so many more people that are in need.
