Our Well-baby Care Vaccination Program aims to wipe out preventative diseases on the Torbeck Plain in Haiti. GlobeMed at Truman State University is partnering with Maison de Naissance to make high quality vaccines accessible to every family in MN's immediate zone of service. The program vaccinates all mothers and children against diptheria, tetanus, polio, German measles, and rubella.
Adverse health effects decrease productivity and life expectancy for children living in rural Haiti. Preventable diseases such as tetanus, polio and measles are a huge threat to the growing young population.
The Well-baby Care Vaccination Program prevents childhood disease through consistent checkups and the administering of vaccinations against childhood diseases. These vaccines have the incredible potential to establish herd immunity, or the percentage of a population that must be immune, to prevent spread of a contagion in a community.
Through this program, every child in Maison de Naissance's zone of service will be vaccinated against childhood diseases. Each baby delivered at the clinic will be vaccinated against disease. A community that is protected against disease will foster a strong and growing young population with the potential to empower and strengthen their entire community.
