Tragically this pretty young pregnant mother drowned last month, together with her unborn baby, as she tried to fetch water from the water source near to her village in central Uganda.
During the rainy season the path down to the pond had become too slippery. As she leant over the pond with her jerry can to scoop up the water, she lost her footing and fell head first into the water. There was no way to save her.
Heartbreaking! Such a tragedy is not uncommon here in Uganda, and yet it could easily be avoided with the provision of a simple borehole in the village.
It only takes $3,000 to provide clean and safe water for a whole village.
