Women in Guatemala are very industrious always looking for ways to make an income to care for their families. MayaWorks artisan partners apply for microloans so they can acquire the materials and equipment needed to make products for larger suppliers who purchase in volume. These high volume sales are a great source of household income.
To sell to larger companies, women need to purchase thread in large quantities and buy more looms to keep up with the workload. Family members pitch in to weave the products so that they stay on the production schedule which is vey important when working with large volumes. This work is exhausting but brings in a good income for the women which they use to educate and care for their children.
Our partners are grateful for the donations that go toward microloans. Thank you for supporting MayaWorks' microcredit program.
