Cristina is a single mother who supports her son on her own with income she earns from weaving products and through the agricultural projects she creates with micro-credit loans from MayaWorks.
Cristina is a farmer at heart. She loves growing strawberries, cabbage, carrots, green beans and many other crops that she sells for the export market. Cristina requests micro-credit loans from MayaWorks to purchase seed or plantlings. She's had many micro-loans through MayaWorks that she has successfully paid back.
Cristina needs the extra income she gets from selling crops. Her son undergoes therapy to address his special needs. If it were not for the income she earns from her projects, she would not be able pay for his therapy.
MayaWorks is proud to offer our artisan partners small micro-loans for income generating projects. We have found that, not only do they assist women in becoming financially dependent, micro-loans also help women feel better about themselves because they are able to contribute to the improvement of their communities.
Thank you for your support.
