to empower and mainstreamise the most stigmatised and discreminated women. They are sweepers, dumping ground workers, sex workers, trafficked women and HIV+ women, through micro-entrepreneurship and financial inclusion program and community leadership program. the project will provide micro-entrepreneurship training to 20 women peers to lead 20+ groups from the above discriminated communities, advocate their cause for financial inclusion and link them with banks, and give micro skill support.
incessant globalisation made society take psychological distance from poor women, victimise and forget them. ignore if violated. Women as garbage worker, sex workers, rape victims and HIV+ women are forced to fend for themselves and their children when they have no support from community and family. seen as wasted, they and their children are exploited,in all possible manners. In mumbai of india, we have selected such a slums where above mentioned women come to live as a last resort to survive.
we help poor women victimised by patriarchy and extremely stigmatised by society, to mainstreamised themselves through 1.entrereneurship program, 2.community participation program 3. financial inclusion, and through 4.legal awarenes. Sanmitra trust has successfully helped more than 1000 such direct victim, stigmatised women of above mentioned groups, since 1998. we have vision, skill and experience to help more and more women to emerge as power, mainstreamised and make institutions include them
Program will help reduce women specific stigmatisation and discrimination of every poor-survivor woman by example, by creating leadership and voice from the victims themselves. by running the program through peer community leaders emerged from the program, from the victims themselves. to emerge as a social platform for poor, victim and abused women. it will involve surrounding mainstream community too at every level of program. directly, indirectly project will serve 1000 women and children.
