ROPES is working to reduce poverty levels in Chittoor, India by helping women to develop a stable income. The average per capita income of these women is US$ 9. ROPES offers soft loans to the women.
Almost every other year, the district of Chittoor is plagued by drought , making it difficult for families to survive. The poor tribal and dalit women labourers need to adapt to these conditions to increase their chances of survival. High incidence of disease and limited healthcare access increases rates of infant, child, and maternal mortality. Over 1500 poor families identified for this project, need help to improve their living conditions, reduce malnutrition and educate their children.
Organize 1500 women into groups to develop savings & long-run stability. Peer educators will provide Skills training. 500 poor women will receive credit support, 250 women will receive ante - post natal care. 1000 children will be back in school.
Over 1500 families living in 200 villages in the district of Chittoor will improve their living conditions, 1000 children will have access to education, their families to better health care and improved nutrition.
