Hello!
Thus far, we have raised $50 through GlobalGiving towards our goal of $4,000 to assist with in-country transportation and really need your help. Mfangano Island has roughly 19,000 residents, depending on the time of year and is separated by a giant mountain in the middle. On the half of the island where our bike shop will be located, there are 200 motorbikes and 1 car. Bikes have arrived to the island and the demand has been fantastic! Take a look at the the new video by using the link below...I am sure many folks have never seen a bicycle traveling across Lake Victoria and on the island.
Bikes are everywhere!! We can't believe the demand we are seeing at the bike shop.
Can you image how life will change? Access to healthcare, access to school, access to the market to sell crops are now a reality, and they can all happen multiple times a day. With a bicycle, islanders will be able to travel 3 to 4 times faster and carry 3 to 4 times more weight in 1/3 of the time! So, as you think about where you money could go, I leave you with one final thought. Bicycles for Humanity Colorado puts 100% of the funds we raise back into the cause. We have no overhead from paid staff as we all volunteer our time.
Best,
Mike Lover

Bikes in route to the island
Hello!
Thus far, we have raised $50 through Global Giving towards our goal of $4,000 to assist with in-country transportation and really need your help. "So, what exactly does my contribution go towards?" one might ask...picture the island from the television show "Lost." Add this to your mental image...Mfangano Island has roughly 19,000 residents, depending on the time of year and is separated by a giant mountain in the middle. On the half of the island where our bike shop will be located, there are 200 motorbikes and 1 car. Bikes just arrived to the island!
