October 2013 update
By Mike Lover | Director of Fundraising
Hello!
Thus far, we have raised $85 through GlobalGiving towards our goal of $4,000 to assist with in-country transportation and really need your help. Mfangano Island has roughly 19,000 residents, depending on the time of year and is separated by a giant mountain in the middle. On the half of the island where our bike shop is located, there are 200 motorbikes and 1 car. The team at the shop has sold through most of the inventory of 350 bikes and a second shipment of 350 bikes is now in inventory.
Can you image how life has changed? Bikes are everywhere!
From the bike shop..."I can’t forget to mention the rate at which the rides have increased in the island as now every man and women can ride the bikes including 3 years old kids. This is a big impact to this remote island in terms of transport is concerned. "
I'll be traveling to the shop in January and look forward to sharing photos in our next report.
Bicycles for Humanity Colorado puts 100% of the funds we raise back into the cause. We have no overhead from paid staff as we all volunteer our time.
Best,
Mike Lover

The team has sold through the inventory and we are sending off another shipment on 4/8/2013.
Can you image how life will change? Access to healthcare, access to school, access to the market to sell crops are now a reality, and they can all happen multiple times a day.
