The project aims to address MHM challenges among school girls in Mwanza by providing WASH education to schoolgirls and women in the community, introducing alternative water storage systems, sanitary facilities, reusable and washable menstrual cups to build up confidence and school performance for young girls even during their menstrual cycle. The proposed project will allow girls to access washable and reusable menstrual cups.
A lack of adequate guidance on menstrual management; water, disposal, and private changing facilities; and sanitary hygiene materials leave adolescent schoolgirls with limited options for healthy personal hygiene during monthly menses also prevents girls from attending the school which lead to poor academic performance particularly when they are menstruating.
Menstrual Hygiene Management will solve this problem for creating a supportive environment for all girls and women to be able to manage their menses hygienically, safely, in privacy and with dignity. This will increase their self-esteem, good attendance at school, good academic performance, reduce economic costs and also boost employment for the surrounding communities and the nation.
Will further help to enable girls to attend school and to increase their academic performance and also have a positive impact on the community around them
