Challenge

More than 90 p.c. blind youth in India are struggling for the employment opportunity. The rapidly changing economy in India is unable to provide employment opportunity to visually challenged persons. As a result, they are forced to live a neglected life in deprivation & very distressing condition since the majority are from poverty struck families. How to provide them stable employment and protect their right to live a self-dependent dignified life is a real challenge in the Indian context.

Solution

GSP SWADHAR offers a unique and innovative solution to address the critical problem of unemployment among visually challenged youth by training them as an Acupressure- Massage therapist. Due to the increasing lifestyle diseases, there is a growing demand for the trained therapist. This project will facilitate the adoption of this modern occupation as a therapist by needy 30 visually impaired youth & ensure them remunerative stable employment to overcome disability, poverty, and deprivation.

Long-Term Impact

The project will empower 30 blind youth by providing them skill training and meaningful, stable and remunerative employment. The project will help blind youth to come out of poverty and deprivation within one year time ensuring their equal opportunity rights and dignity is respected and projected. This would change the negative attitude towards persons with disability. The blind youth will emerge as wellness professionals & contribute significantly by serving people suffering health problems.
