Project Report | Feb 16, 2023
Girls Matter

By Miriam Nakiyaga | Project Leader

GIRLS SHOULD HAVE EQUAL ACCESS TO EDUCATION.

In many rural areas, parents tend to think that boys should be in schools while girls stay home doing house work or getting married off as soon as they begin their periods. At Kyobe foundation we strongly believe that all children should be supported to go to school so that they are able to realize their dreams and aspirations.

Girls unlike boys are many times forced to abandon school due to many reasons including lack of sanitary pads, Teenage Pregnancy, menstrual pain, lack of guidance and lack of school fees as boys are paid for first.

This is why we decided to start School clubs where we meet with girls and encourage them to stay focused on their education, We help to build their self esteem and confidence, we support the less advantaged girls with sanitary pads so that they can attend school everyday , we also support schools with water tanks as a means of saving girls from walking long distances in search for water.
