Every pregnant woman needs support from her family and community in seeking care during pregnancy, at the time of delivery, after delivery and during the lactation period.
The purpose of antenatal care is to ensure good health in every pregnant woman and her unborn baby by checking for any conditions that may cause a risk either during pregnancy or at birth. Specifically, one ultrasound scan before 24 weeks' gestation is recommended for pregnant women to estimate gestational age, improve detection of fetal anomalies and multiple pregnancies, reduce induction of labor for post-term pregnancy, and improve a woman's pregnancy experience.
Our new maternity ward at Agonga Health Facility is in dire need of an ultrasound scan. Many mothers have to incur an extra cost of travelling lots of kilometres to access the available machine in Gulu town. KCIU continues to mobilise the community and well wishers to raise funds and procure an Ultrasound scan machine to improve our antenatal services.
We are relying on your friendship and generosity to give mothers in our community a chance to safe motherhood. Thank you for being part of KCIU life saving works and if you are able, please send in a donation.
