Magic Bus works with at-risk children and youth in India serving approximately 400,000 boys and girls in the age group 12-18 years through our education and livelihoods (employment) programs that are delivered in 22 states across India.

Magic Bus programs transform adolescents who live in poverty into confident young adults well equipped with education, life skills and livelihood (employability) skills leading to a stable job enabling them to break the cycle of poverty and the accompanying discrimination and denial of rights that underprivileged people especially women and girls face everyday of their lives.

In the last two decades India has witnessed unprecedented economic growth and is now the world’s fastest growing large economy. This has brought many changes to the country’s socio-economic profile. However, large parts of India’s hinterlands remain unchanged and women and children are denied rights, and even struggle to meet basic needs. In a country where every fifth person is an adolescent (10-19 years), of which approximately 47% are females (i.e. 115 million girls), gender rights, education and employability skills are a priority issue. Magic Bus has prioritized working with adolescents, especially girls and 49% of all those we serve are girls.
