Food, shelter, and medicine after China Earthquake

On behalf of the entire Machik staff and the community of Jyekundo, thank you for the tremendous outpouring of support for the recovery and reconstruction efforts after the April 13, 2010 earthquake. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to do the following:

• Bring clean drinking water, basic food supplies, blankets and other emergency assistance directly to communities in the earthquake zone.
• Support health outreach services for earthquake survivors in remote nomadic areas, including access to x-rays, TB treatment, rehabilitation services, bus services to local hospitals and more.
• Fund urgent surgical procedures for dozens of earthquake survivors.
• Fund the basic needs for a vocational training school which serves over 1000 students.
• Support a rural health clinic that will serve local villagers.

Thanks to the response of grassroots supporters such as yourself, Machik has been able to continue the work of supporting local recovery for Tibetan communities in the Jyekundo earthquake zone.  In the weeks and months ahead, we will continue to work with local field partners to find ways of supporting this devastated community through the long winter.
