The Lunch Buddy program has been lucky enough to have an influx of great volunteers in the past few months. So far this year we have been able to provide Buddies to over 70 children in the North Clackamas School District. Our volunteers range in age from 19 to 82 and come from all backgrounds, just as the elementary school age children they mentor do.
Lunch Buddies spend time eating then playing outside, reading together, doing special projects together or just chatting. Being a Lunch Buddy requires about an hour per week commitment during the school year. Lunch Buddy mentors can communicate on a level a child can understand. They are dependable, consistent, caring and non-judgemental.
If you are interested in being a Lunch Buddy for the 2012-2013 school year, please email Linda Parsons at lunchbuddyncsd@yahoo.com.
