Provide Support to Rebuild Philippines from Haiyan

by Do Your Part, Inc

We at Do Your Part, would again like to thank you for supporting this project, and to thank GlobalGiving for this avenue to reach out to the people of the world in an effort to assist in times of need.

The Philippines was particularly rewarding, the people are amazing and being able to include them in on rebuilding their communities, brought pride to both the people and us.

We all have come so far from the first days of Haiyan, from suppling food, water, and necessities to teaching the use of medical supplies, water treatment and more; to establishing new gardens for food, and rebuilding dwellings, and moving people to higher ground in an effort to maintain their homes. The last storm was evidence of the rebuilding as all the structures with stood the force of nature.

Within the pictures is a sign that was posted on each property rebuilt. It is a thank you to Rotary Club and Do Your Part, which is a thank you from the people to you. We continue to thank you and appreciate you and your donation.

The people of the Philippines are such resilant individuals, and are overwhelmed with the help they have gotten from all the people, groups, organizations from the United States; they continually ask us to relay their thanks to all of you. With your help and that of outside funding we have been able to help with rebuilding in a number of areas. Many houses have had to be moved to higher ground, away from the waters edge, village gardens for food source have had to be re-established, town buildings have also needed major repairs, but with the help of the people of the Philippines this work is getting done. We, at Do Your Part, would like to Thank You from the bottom of our hearts for your donations, the Philippines continues to need help.  Again we would like to leave you with a very appreciative thank you.

I would like to apologize for my delay in giving you an update on the Philippines. Your money has gone to good use our volunteers are still feeding and rebuilding. They have a goal in their recent location, that is to build or rebuild 250 homes, they have 39 left and are in need of $6718 to complete these homes. Another volunteer is in need of $750 to complete a house of a young pregnant mother. With your assistance and generosity, along with fundraisers and other donations, you have all  assisted with bringing these people to sustainability. These Filipino people are amazing and resilant, they pitch right in and help work right along side the volunteers and then they help their neighbors, they are very gracious and thankful. A few of the beneficiaries of your donations have contacted me to express their gratitude. You will find a poster on each building within the pictures shown in this report, on that poster it reads "Thank You to Rotary Club of New York and Thank You to Do Your Part."  From all of us at Do Your Part and our new Filipino friends, we would like to thank each and everyone of you.

Do Your Part, joins the people of the Philippines in thanking each of you for your support. There is still a lot of work to be done, as we are in the rebuilding and repair stages of this disaster. Along with our partners and your help 98 homes have been rebuilt to date at a cost of about $185 to $300 (U.S.) , together a goal has been set to accomplish rebuilds to another 250 houses. Survivors that had houses close to the shore have been asked to relocate more inland and volunteers have agreed to build them a house in a safer location. In other areas it has been advised for survivors to raise their houses 4 to 5 feet in order to cut back on future losses with the assistance of the volunteers.

Help is still on hand to continue the feeding of these very appreciative survivors.

Without the help of your donations, partnerships, and other fundraisers we would not be making such a humble yet worthy difference in the lives of these families. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

Do Your Part would once again like to thank each of our donors for the support you have given to this project. We have not raised much, but with the your help, the help of other fundraisers, and in-kind donations, the money goes far and is put to good use. Our volunteers started out traveling from village to remote village bringing food, tents, generators, and solar panels. Many of these areas are still without power and these solar generators go along way. Then we assisted with gifts for the children during the holidays.
Our volunteer held training sessions in water filtration, medical, and solar panel demonstration. The focus has shifted towards housing rebuild/repair assistance. We wish to supply residents with tin and nails, along with coco lumber and/or nipa to support them in helping themselves.
Our volunteer constructed the largest garden, so far, in Leyte, along with rebuilding a shed for tools and supplies that was destroyed. This shed was adjacent to a high school in Bontoc and is the Banguay village “Purpose Garden” for Indigents and Senior Citizens.
We will be continuing our help in the Philippines and ask you to tell others about this project and other projects for the Philippines, they are a wonderful, gracious people and would thank you themselves if they could,
Thank you again for your gracious support,
