Women and Children Aid in the Prisons of Uganda continues to offer rehabilitation services in Basic and Essential Life skills training to the women prisoners at Kigo Government Prison located in Wakiso District. This includes excellent skills in:- self control, communication, Anger management, Listening, criticism handling etc. Currently we conduct our presentations verbally with no project & its screen/any other stationery to help facilitate those others with disabilities in our classes.
-Conducting life skills training to a class of women inmates with less ability to read and write yet visible illustrations on screen could be a better option. -Conducting life skills training to a class without a proper tool for visual illustrations e.g projector and screen. -And because of this some inmates end up being bored and eventually skip out the classes. -Some attendants have sight and hearing disabilities yet the use of some form of tools could greatly help resolve this issue.
-The projector and screen will help make our training be better understood by the inmates more so when photographic illustrations are involved. -Provision of this tool will help maintain our classes and thereby causing a very big positive learning effect onto their lives. -Those with hearing problems could benefit with the help of their sight on the screens before them.
-Equipping the inmates with such skills will help find new ways of thinking as well as problem solving that would minimise chances of them into prison. -Develop a greater sense of self-awareness and appreciation for others. -Build confidence both in spoken skills and for group collaboration and cooperation. Recognise the impact of their actions and teaches them to take responsibility for what they do rather than blame others
