We need your help in building three (3) additional children reading rooms in Liberia!!! AALG builds accessible children reading rooms (mini libraries) which has a bigger impact in the communities. Our children reading rooms provides free access to books, magazines, videos, audios, and music, internet resources and a wide range of recreational and social activities for children can experience the joy of reading.
Liberia doesn't have any public children library. Liberia is recovering from over 20 years of civil conflict including the destruction of its education infrastructures (with over 60% of the population illiterate) .
In a country where over 60% of the population is illiterate, the reading rooms are an "investment in our childrenas brains. This project will help improve the children's overall aptitude for learning: from strengthening their vocabulary, improving communications skills and logical thinking to giving them a change to imagine and see the rest of the world.
The project will provide over 300 children access to good reading materials and activities, help increase their reading literacy as well as give them another chance at some sense of normalcy.
This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).
