Project Overview
In January 2024, during a school visit in Bangladesh, students highlighted the urgent need for a library, pointing out the absence of basic educational resources such as books and furniture. In response, the Green Fund Initiative (GFI), in partnership with the Bangladesh Biodiversity Conservation and Social Services Centre (BCSSC), initiated a project to establish a fully equipped school library. The project’s aim is to enhance literacy, provide critical educational materials, and create a safe and inspiring learning environment for students living in a climate-impacted region.
Objective
The primary objective of this initiative is to develop a fully functional school library that serves as a central resource hub for students. The library is intended to support literacy development, environmental education, and academic growth while nurturing a culture of reading and resilience among young learners in an area severely affected by climate change.
Progress During the Reporting Period
Funding Status:
During the reporting period (September 2024 – April 2025), GFI did not receive any additional funding to advance the implementation of the library project. As a result, significant planned activities such as the procurement of books, furniture, and other learning materials could not be carried out.
Activities:
Impact
Despite financial limitations, the project maintained its visibility within the school community:
Challenges
Next Steps
Conclusion
Although progress was limited due to the absence of funding during this reporting period, the commitment of GFI, BCSSC, and the school community remains strong. With a solid foundation laid and clear future steps identified, the project is well-positioned to move forward quickly once financial support is secured. GFI remains dedicated to creating an inspiring and sustainable learning environment for students in this climate-affected region of Bangladesh.
