This summer was quite busy for all at our Hogar Infantil Jesus Nazareno. First of all we had a group of five local teachers that provided activities for our children under the "Homeless" program of the Federal Government; we also sent our older kids to a local summer camp during the month of June.
In the area of fundraising, we held our annual "Bohemia" on april 26, to celebrate with our local individual donors. We also participated in the 2-14 USPS Food Drive where we received over thirty boxes filled with canned goods, some of which we shared with other local non-profits. We had a major activity sponsored by the radio station Majic 97.3, which resulted in various donations including TV set and video games for the children.
We were grateful to be the chosen entity by the Colegio de CPA de Puerto Rico and the Club Gallistico de Hatillo to be the recipient of their fundraising efforts.
Our major summer project was setting up a 45" trailer to be used for storage of records, obsolete equipment pending disposal and various items of clothing, toys and supplies. With the help of volunteers from the Calvary Baptist Church, 29 missionaries helped us clear out two classrooms which had been used as storage. These classrooms will now house the Social Workers and set up an area for therapies for our children. The volunteers spend three days cleaning, painting and moving items between the rooms and the new storage area.
We want to thank all the volunteers and contributors that helped make this summer activies a great success.
