We've had a busy fall and pre-Christmas activities to ready our Home for the Holiday season. Various groups of volunteers visited Hogar Infantil Jesus Nazareno to help us clean up and maintain our facilities. One group came on a saturday to clean up, and dispose of all unused and discarded assets that had been accumulating at the back of the house and around the grounds. Two groups participated in painting the two story building inside and out. Our volunteers included Unit 141 from the National Guard, a group from HANES brands, Inc. and a volunteer crew from HerbalLife. I am especially proud of my son Eddie, who came with some friends representing SAFEHOUSE MOVEMENT, used their vacation time in PR and spent two days building a security fence for the children. We continue to foster participation from the community using resources from the Interamerican University's Social Worker's Association. Our next big project will be the remodeling and upgrade of the bathrooms in the home to make them more kid friendly and safer, thanks to a grant obtained from Fundacion Angel Ramos.
Please check out the pictures of various groups of volunteers. We cannot use photos of the children in our care because they are under the care of Social Services.
